Activities

It might be hard to imagine boredom when one lives in a house with hundreds of people. It can happen, but not at Glenwood HealthCare and Rehab! Our activity department is just that - ACTIVE! Staff is on duty seven days a week, more than 12 hours a day. Activities like arts and crafts, daily exercise classes, holiday and special theme celebrations take place, as well as trips in our specially equipped van. Residents go out regularly to movies, shopping, special meals at local restaurants, baseball games, fishing trips, museums, zoos, and picnics in a beautiful forest preserve just a few blocks away. Very special birthdays or family gatherings can be celebrated in our Private Recreation Room, which can reserved in advance. Beauticians provide hair care and manicures for times when folks are getting ready to "do the town" or just want the good feeling that comes with a "new look". Our volunteers and staff often accompany residents to special events. That is the feeling of "family" that makes Glenwood so special.

Dining

Residents are served in our large, comfortable dining room. We present meals that will "tickle the taste buds" as well as please the eye of our guests. And, of course, our meals are nutritious! Since we know that tastes and appetites change, we always offer substitutions and seconds. Each month, our resident council meets and solicits comments from residents. We want to know our guests' preferences.

Starting bright and early, our coffee and tea cart makes its way around our dining room.

In addition to our regular meals, special snacks, ice cream socials, and pizza parties spice up life at Glenwood. Staff serves special holiday meals and barbecues on our adjoining outdoor patio from all our departments.
