When
Audrey H. came to us, she couldn't walk and was in a great deal of
pain from her foot. But, at 84, she still had a spark in her and
wanted desperately to get better. We knew we couldn't let that
spark go out, so besides giving her great nursing care, we
concentrated on lots of encouragement.
The therapy she received eased her pain and did a great deal to
bolster Audrey's spirits. Then we taught her how to control her
diabetes and got her back on her feet. After several months of
physical therapy, Audrey could walk well with the help of a
walker. After several months of occupational therapy, Audrey
relearned the activities of daily living and she could safely take
care of herself.
The
day she went home - back to her own apartment and able to take
care of herself - was a joyful day for everyone! We call every now
and then to check up on her. She is controlling her diabetes and,
best of all, she's an independent woman!
